Football lovers gathered to witness the final of the maiden edition of Ejigbo Inter Mosque Competition which was won by Ejigbo Central Mosque.
Ejigbo Central Mosque overcame Aduranigba Agbarako Central Mosque 2-0 in the final to become the first winner of the competition thereby, setting a precedent for other central mosques in Ejigbo in subsequent editions of the competition.
Ejigbo central mosque had earlier defeated Jakande Estate central mosque 4-1 to book a place in the final while Aduranigba central mosque beat Folawiyo central mosque by defeating them through penalty shootout.
Ejigbo central mosque was the king of the show in the final as they controlled possessions.
Ejigbo central mosque scored two great goals against Aduranigba central mosque to emerge as the best central mosque football team in Ejigbo LCDA.
In the 3rd place match, Jakande estate central mosque defeated Folawiyo central mosque via penalty shootout with 4-3 goals after ending the game in a stalemate.
Speaking to ECHONEWS, the grand chief Imam of Ejigbo, Alhaji (Dr) Mukaila Sanni, disclosed that the purpose of the Inter Mosque tournament is to foster unity among Muslims in Ejigbo LCDA and to direct the attention of youths to sport.
“The aim of the competition is to promote love and unity among Muslims in Ejigbo and to direct the attention of our youths to something positive through sport which is one of the positive things that the youths love most.”
