Education District VI flags off distribution of mobile device, radio units to secondary school students

Education District VI has commenced distribution of mobile devices and radio units to students in Mafoluku senior Grammar School and Ewutuntun Junior Grammar School as support to enhance the learnability of the students.

Speaking at the flag off of the programme, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Awofisayo, said as part of the State Government efforts to ensure that learning does not stop at any point with the students, the government has partnered with well meaning organisations to procure radio and mobile phone devices for students in the Junior and Senior Schools respectively.

The commissioner, who was represented by her Protocol Officer, Mr. Sesi Pot-Balogun, explained that the mobile devices have been configured with MTN sim and 6 months data and the senior school curricular with all subjects pre- loaded.

He said the devices are personal to each student and are not transferable after activation.

He emphasised that the mobile devices are centrally monitored at the back end to ensure that the phones are not used for other purposes.

The commissioner told the recipients who were opportune to have the mobile devices for their learning, to make the best use of the opportunity.

Also speaking, the Director Schools Administration, Mrs. Omolara Ikumapayi, said it was necessary for education sector to follow the trend of other sectors which has refused to be stagnant with the current situation.

He noted that the sector has been moving forward since the outbreak of Coronavirus and has continued to blaze the trail using different platforms.

The Director, who was speaking in the capacity of the TG/PS, Education District VI, enjoined the students both in the Junior and Senior Schools to take maximum advantage of the devices and key into the different online sessions in order to be academically sound at all time.
