DSVA Involves Students In Fight Against Gender Violence

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), has enlisted pupils into the Kings and Queens Club to create more awareness on eradication of gender base violence.

DSVA in collaboration with a group, Youth Alive Foundation, inducted 40 young boys and girls into the club which currently numbers at 5,507 members.

The agency, through it’s Head, Public Affairs Unit, Adejoke Ogini, informed that the motive behind the addition is to promote the impulse in the minds of the children in tackling the menace of gender-base violence.

Ogini mentioned that the inductees drawn from secondary schools, in Education District 2 : the United Senior/Junior Schools and Ayangbunren Senior/Junior High Schools, Ikorodu, during their induction were engaged in critical issues such as SGBV, sexual and reproductive health, anger management, gender equality, legal position on the Child’s Rights Law to mention few.

She also noted that the pupils, who were taken on a six week training program, were also sensitized on the use of information technology in combating the crime.

The DSVA encouraged the students to become positive change agents in their communities.
