The Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Monsurudeen Bello (Obe), has promised the traders on Adewole Street whose shops would will be affected by the construction of drainage a relief package.

The Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG), Faith Sanctuary, Ejigbo, as part of its social responsibility service, is set to construct drainage on  the street.

The traders have expressed dissatisfaction as some of the shops would be removed for the drainage construction.

Responding to their agitation, the council chairman said he would call a general meeting where the stakeholders would deliberate on how to relocate the shops to relieve the affected traders.

He emphasised that his administration would try its best to protect the traders from hardship in the course of the development.

He, however, cautioned the fish pond operators within the area to restrict the overflow of water from their pond to the road.

“The street needs drainage and the positioning of the shops are exactly on the lane where the drainage ought to be dug. I promise that we would first have a general meeting where we shall all deliberate on how we can easily relocate their shops so that no one will be economically affected,” he promised.

He stated that necessary arrangement would be made ahead for the continuity of good governance by the incoming administration to accomplish the intended goals.

Bello appreciated the efforts of the church towards developing its host community, saying it has shown goodwill in assisting the government.

He said the council would make necessary documentation the church needs  to execute so that the next administration will provide the needed support by making equipment and personnel available.
