An establishment in London, Olayinka Toluwanimi Group, has donated relief materials to the Badagry Correctional Centre to aid effective service at the facility.
The group, while delivering the items stated that the provision targets rendering rehabilitation support as well contributing to a proper health for the inmates.
During the event held on Friday, the facility received a submersible pumping machine and water fittings in an act to further extend compassion and responsibility to a segment of society that is often overlooked, as disclosed by the National Coordinator of the group, Fausat Popoola.
Popoola, who also stated that the items donated also include pipes, syringes, drugs, and other vital materials, was given out following complaints about the conditions at the centre.
“As politicians and human beings, we must always do our part,” the coordinator said.
“This gesture also aligns with our commitment to the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ensuring that communities feel the impact of governance no matter their circumstances.
“We are urging the centre to ensure proper usage and maintenance of the donated items.”
Receiving the items, Assistant Comptroller of the facility, Akin Ajo, expressed profound gratitude saying , “I am highly elated and deeply appreciative of this generous support from Alhaja Fausat Temitayo Popoola and the London UK Group for Bola Ahmed Tinubu Jagaban, Shettima 2027, as facilitated by Hon. Babatunde Setonji.
“The water system components would significantly address long-standing challenges within the centre.
“May God continue to bless and replenish the resources of the donors. We call on other well-meaning individuals and organizations to emulate this thoughtful gesture. Correctional centres, though out of sight, should never be out of the nation’s care and conscience,” Ajo concluded.
