DFO Care, the charitable wing of DFO Clinic, hosted a significant health event in the Yaba area of Lagos State on Sunday, providing free health checks to over fifty people, including screenings for blood sugar levels, body mass index, and blood pressure, as well as consultations with medical professionals.

In addition to the complimentary health screenings, the event provided attendees with valuable educational seminars on crucial health topics, such as identifying and avoiding counterfeit medications, highlighting the risks of self-medication, promoting healthy lifestyle habits and dietary choices, emphasizing the benefits of multivitamins, and familiarizing participants with the warning signs of “silent killer” diseases like hypertension, high cholesterol, stroke, cancer, and prostate issues.

Speaking about the event, Dr. Francis Okogwu, Founder and Medical Director of DFO Clinic, emphasized the organization’s dedication to community support and provision of free medical assistance, particularly through preventive healthcare initiatives.

Dr. Okogwu highlighted the necessity of regular health checks, consistent yet gradual physical activity, a well-balanced diet, and moderate to no alcohol consumption, emphasizing the importance of preventive measures in maintaining overall health and wellbeing.

“Through this event, we hope to raise awareness and encourage people to prioritize their health by staying informed and taking proactive steps towards maintaining optimal health,” he said.

Dr. Okogwu highlighted the gravity of the situation, stating that many life-threatening diseases can lead to preventable deaths with survival windows of as little as four minutes. This reinforces the urgent need for easy access to first aid supplies and training, as well as increased awareness of preventive healthcare measures.

“As Nigerians, we must be proactive in taking charge of our health,” he urged. “By investing in preventive healthcare, we can reduce the likelihood of incurring significant medical expenses for curative treatmentsDr. Okogwu, the Medical Director of DFO Clinic, further stated that DFO Care intends to grow and replicate this program, ensuring that more individuals can access such vital health services.

“Our goal is to make these life-saving programs available to more people in the future,” he said. “I encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities and prioritize your health by participating in preventative healthcare measures.”

The message to the community was clear: Embrace preventive healthcare measures, invest in your health, and take advantage of the opportunities available to stay healthy.
