The residents of Afariogun Street have called on the government to decongest the street of vehicles being diverted to the street from the Oshodi-Apapa expressway, lamenting that they (the vehicles) have been causing serious damage to the road..
Following the ongoing reconstruction work on the expressway, Afariogun, being the major street that links Oshodi, Bolade and other destinations, has served as an alternative route.

However, the congestion of the street by the vehicles has been damaging the street, widening the potholes on the road.

One of the residents who spoke to ECHONEWS, Yusuf Aiyelangbe, said the potholes developed two months ago from cracks as more vehicles ply the road and continue to expand to big holes.

“The three holes did not develop at the same time, one first started and it increased to the other as they keep expanding and now the third hole is forming.”
Meanwhile, ECHONEWS gathered that the Works Department of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government has commenced palliative work on roads within the community.

Though, the first phase of the work is starting from Sehinde Calisto up to Ewenla Street, others earmarked for repairs are Ogunlana, Adeyemi Bakare among others.
The government is using coarse blast stones for easy access.
