The respected officer, known as the Akogun of Badagry and Barden Yaman Gwandu, was honored by the All Stars International FC of Lagos, which organized a special commemoration to celebrate his rise to the pinnacle of the customs service and his impactful retirement.

Speaking at the event, DCG Jibo expressed profound gratitude to the club for the recognition and highlighted the mutual cooperation between All Stars International FC and the Badagry community.

He revealed that one of his proudest achievements was pioneering the establishment of Badagry United Football Club, with the primary aim of diverting youths from smuggling and other social vices prevalent in the border town.

“Badagry United has now become a household name in Nigerian football,” he proudly stated, adding that the club has played a vital role in fostering peace and youth engagement along the border.

“Thanks to the team and the support of the youths, Badagry remains one of the most peaceful border areas I have served in,” he noted.

DCG Jibo emphasized that the formation of the club was a deliberate strategy to channel the energy of young people into productive sporting activities, thereby reducing smuggling and crime while building community cooperation with the customs service.

Though now retired after 35 years of dedicated national service, the customs icon assured guests that his passion for sports remains undimmed.

“I have just retired a few months ago, but I am already in consultations with other sporting organizations. Retirement, for me, means more time to contribute to the growth of sports in Nigeria,” he declared.

The retired DCG also praised the longstanding relationship with All Stars International FC, describing the annual exchange visits between Lagos and Badagry as a symbol of unity and friendship.

Guests at the colorful event lauded DCG Jibo for his selfless service to both the nation and the development of grassroots football, describing him as a true patriot and sports enthusiast whose legacy will endure.
