The driver failed to put his headlamp on, and the passenger was already in the middle of the road before he could see the fast-moving incoming vehicle.
BYSTANDERS at the Obadore bus stop in the Igando-Ikotun LCDA of Alimosho LGA were left with no option but to rain curses and abuses on a driver after he almost crushed a man to death in the area in the late hours of Tuesday, April 11, 2023.
The incident, which occurred at about 08:14 pm, involved a pedestrian, who was crossing from the Obadore market side of the road, and heading towards the community road, Obadore.
Alimoshotoday’s reporter, who was an eyewitness, reports that the passenger had just alighted from a vehicle and was about to cross to the other side of the road.
When he crossed, the road was seemingly free, although, in the middle of the road, a fast-moving vehicle was approaching. The pedestrian appeared not to have seen the incoming vehicle because the driver only put on the headlamp when he saw there was someone just in front of him.
To save himself, the pedestrian had to step back, placing him in the middle of two other vehicles.
Luckily, he was able to cross safely, leaving bystanders to question why the driver could be at such speed without his headlamps on.
