COWLSO at 25: Lagos APC Lauds Women’s Role in Governance, Empowerment

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) on its 25th anniversary, celebrating its long-standing impact under the theme, “Twenty-Five Years of Visionary Legacy: Inspiring the Next Generation.”
In a statement, the party commended COWLSO for its sustained relevance, transformative leadership, and contributions to community development and women’s empowerment in Lagos State.
Founded to promote community service, advocacy, and women’s inclusion in governance, COWLSO has, over the years, evolved into a model of compassionate leadership and civic responsibility.
The Lagos APC paid tribute to the First Lady of the Federation, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, OON, CON, who established the organization and laid the foundation for its continued growth. The party also praised the successive First Ladies who have led the committee, including the current Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, for sustaining its vision and expanding its reach.
According to the APC, COWLSO’s interventions in health, education, the environment, and women’s empowerment reflect a legacy of compassion and dedication to the welfare of Lagosians. It described the committee as a living model of institutional sustainability that aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes inclusion, empowerment, and excellence.
The party noted that COWLSO’s annual conferences have become intellectual platforms where policies and ideas shaping Lagos and Nigeria are discussed and refined, helping to inspire a new generation of women leaders and professionals.
As the organization marks 25 years of service, the Lagos APC applauded its commitment to girl-child education, family values, and social welfare, describing these as vital to the state’s vision of inclusive development.
Reaffirming its support, the Lagos APC pledged continued collaboration with COWLSO in initiatives that improve the lives of residents. It stated that the committee’s success reflects Lagos’ unique governance model people-centered, visionary, and sustainable.
“COWLSO has demonstrated that leadership is about continuity, compassion, and a shared commitment to the common good. As we celebrate this milestone, we are confident that the organization will continue to inspire the next generation to serve with empathy and integrity,” the statement added.
