COVID -19 palliative foods: Beneficiaries commend Sanwo-Olu
By Edith Igbokwe
The beneficiaries of the Lagos State COVID -19 Emergency Food Response provided to cushion the effect of stay-at-home directive in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area have applauded the State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, saying the palliative measure was commendable.
The food items include small pack of rice, beans, garri, grinded pepper and a loaf of bread packaged in a bag as an aid to the needy.
However, ECHONEWS gathered that each Community Development Association (CDA) was given four packaged bags to share to their community members and that many CDAs were faced with the challenge of how to share the food items among the community members who outnumbered the items supplied.
To be on a safer side, some of the CDAS eventually gave out the foods to the widows in the community. For instance, Isokan CDA which is made up of five streets gave out the food items to four widows in the community while Afariogun CDA followed suit in their own discretion.
“The food items were too small to cater for the whole community; I therefore suggested they should be given to the poorest of the poor in the community,” he chairman of Isokan CDA, Mr. Kazeem Fawole said.
He concluded that the exercise marked the beginning of the food support and hoped for improvement in the next phase.
