No fewer than 120 residents across the seven wards in Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) benefited from the foods distributed by Princess Catherine Olateru- Olagbegi.
According to her, the palliatives tagged ‘Food Drive’ which contained food items and customized face masks, were distributed to support the masses, especially the vulnerable in the community to cushion the effect of the lockdown on them.
She said: “We cannot fake ignorance of what’s going on in the society and its adverse effect on people’s income especially those who live in the communities.
I have also done this to complement the relentless efforts of the state and local governments to mitigate the effect of the COVID-19 on the people of our community.”
Olateru, who intends to aspire to contest for the council chairmanship in 2021, said the palliatives had nothing to do with her political ambition.
“I am not doing this for my aspiration,” she said.
Commenting on the gesture, the Chairman of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Aswani Division, Hon. Adeleke Adegboyega, said: “This is a laudable intervention which has come as and when due. The provision of palliatives to relieve the residents is not only limited to the government but corporate organisations and individual members of the public and I will say that Princess Olateru- Olagbegi has performed creditably well by providing palliatives for the vulnerable in the community at this point in time that we need it most. The Almighty Allah will replenish her pockets in million folds.”
“On behalf of the good people of Ilasamaja, I appreciate the effort of Hon. Olateru-Olagbegi for her support given to members of Ilasamaja community. May Almighty God keep upholding her,” said Hon. Mukaila Atilola, General Secretary, Central Working committee, Ilasamaja.
