The Head teacher of Gbeleyi Primary School, Ishagatedo Isolo, Mrs. Ngozi Obioha has been feeling sad as the continuous lockdown on school activities hinders her retirement ceremony.
Retirees in the school system in Lagos State are pulled out in an exciting ceremony to mark their exit in a blaze of glory.
According to her, the preparation for her retirement ceremony slated for Thursday, April 2 had been perfected barely two weeks before the Covid-19 lockdown started which halted the programme.
Obioha was in low spirit, feeling that the ceremony may not hold again if the lockdown on schools is not lifted, saying she might have to cancel the plan entirely and retire unceremoniously after 35 active years in the teaching service.
“It feels really bad, especially as the occasion was just two weeks away and I had almost completed my preparations remaining only perishable items to be purchased for the ceremony. I cannot blame myself or anyone else. That is what we experience at the moment and as it seems, if the lockdown continues, I may finally cancel the ceremony,” she stated.
Prior to her deployment to Gbeleyi Primary school in December 2016, she had taught at Ewu Primary School, Ewu Tuntun, Farombi Primary School, Isolo, Estate Primary school, Isolo and Akinbaiye Primary School where she served in the capacity of Assistant School Manager.
