BMC Fisheries, a subsidiary of Boom Multi Dynamics Company (BMC) has reached out to the residents of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) with about 80 packs of smoked fish as palliatives to cushion the effect of lockdown.
The company’s spokesperson, Comrade Yusuf Abdullah said the fish were given as complimentary to other palliatives earlier distributed in the community by the company.
He said the fish were distributed to vulnerable members of the community at different locations across the council area.
“It is the little way we can reach out to the residents of the community especially during this trying times,” he said.
He added: “It is also a way of encouraging the youths to venture into agropreneurship by seeing catfish smoking as a lucrative business they can do.
“We are also using this medium to reach out to prospective investors and governments across all levels to support agropreneurs at the grassroots.”
Commending the gesture, one of the beneficiaries who wanted to be addressed simply as Baba Ibeji said the fish was the first palliative he would receive from either government, organisation or any member of the public since the lockdown commenced.
He said: “I want to appreciate BMC for this kind gesture, it means a lot. This is the first time I would receive palliative of any sort since the lockdown commenced. May God keep prospering your business.”
