Court Sentences Three Men To Jail For Drug Trafficking

The Lagos High Court in Ikeja has convicted three persons for being involved in drug peddling.

40-year old Bolanle Dauda was apprehended by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA operatives at Ibiye, Badagry Expressway.

NDLEA disclosed that Dauda, on Saturday 25th May 2024, was caught with 42 blocks of cocaine weighing 47.5 kilograms which was to be delivered in Ghana.

At the point of his arrest, the NDLEA officials recovered an additional eight blocks of the same drug weighing 10 kilograms at his home at Plot 24/25 OPIC extension, Petedo road in Agbara, Ogun State, bringing the total weight of the seized consignment to 57.5 kilograms.

The arrestee was brought to court in a sitting presided by Justice Ambrose Allagoa in charge numbered FHC/L/537C/2024.

Allagoa, who delivered his confinement rulling sentenced Dauda to 21 years imprisonment or payment of N30million fine.

Another convict, Ikeh Ifeanyi, was arrested at Idumota Market in Lagos Island with no fewer that 1,100 ampoules of lethal synthetic opioid identified as fentanyl, weighing 6.480 kilograms.

Ifeanyi, 34, was arraigned before Justice Kehinde Ogundare at the Federal High Court Lagos in a charge numbered FHC/L/433C/2024.

The Judge convicted him to 14 years in prison or an option of N2 million naira fine.

One other, Christian Anyanwu, was caught with 1.4 kilograms of of methaphetamine which was concealed in custard tins alongside cosmetics and foodstuffs en route to Brazil.

Justice Yellin Bogoro convicted Anyanwu to 16 years in jail, four of which is a mandatory imprisonment without an option of fine.
