Court Remands Suspect For Allegedly Stealing At Police Station

A 25-year-old man, Kehinde Abiodun, has been remanded following his trial in a court over allegations of stealing the sum of N50,000 at a police station.

Abiodun was arraigned by the police at the Badagry Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday over charges of felony and theft.

The Prosecutor, Edet Ekpo, said that the suspect, while on interrogation at the Morogbo police post in Badagry over an initial theft of N121,000, again stole N50,000 belonging to one Rebecca Immosemi, the plaintiff.

“The defendant, on October 7, at the Morogbo Police Station along Badagry Expressway, while undergoing interrogation of theft stole the sum of N50,000, belonging to Rebecca Immosemi, the complainant,” Ekpo told the court.

“He is also accused of stealing N121,000 belonging to one Usman Mohammed,” the Prosecutor continued. He added, “The offences contravenes the provisions of Section 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.”

The Magistrate, Nurudeen Layeni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 in like sum.

Layeni ordered that one of the sureties must be a community leader. He adjourned the case till October 22.
