Court Remands Four Men Over Rape, Upload of Victim’s Video

Four alleged sexual offenders have been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for an alleged rape and creation of a video showing the assault.

The accused : Ibe Obinna, Sheu Robiu, Olorunlayo and Adebanjo Ayomide were brought before Magistrate Patrick Nwaka at the Yaba Magistrates’ Court on three counts charge bordering on forced sexual intercourse and dissemination of videos showing the rape incident on the internet.

Appearing against the defendants, DSP Thomas Nurudeen informed the court that the four suspects committed the alleged offences on January 15, 2024, and February 18, 2024. He added that the alleged offences contravened Sections 411, 260, and 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

In addition, Nurudeen told Magistate Nwaka that Obinna shared the video of the alleged assault, which was recorded on his Tecno Pop7 Pro phone, with Emmanuel, Ayomide, and Robiu on Facebook, leading to its viral spread

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge preferred against them.

Following the plea, the Magistrate ordered that the quartet each pay N1m and provide four sureties.

They were remanded until further hearing.
