Court Prosecutes Men For Stealing Chairs

Two suspects have been arraigned for court trial for allegedly stealing chairs worth N9,600,000.

The accused: Chiagoziem Obi and Joseph Nkpokpo were apprehended by the Lagos State Police Command and held for trial at the Ojo Magistrates’ Court.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, told the court that the defendants are standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

Adesulu, while stating that the stolen chairs belong to one James Uzomiwu, mentioned that the duo commited the offences on September 21 at Olojo Drive in Ojo, Lagos by stealing 40 pieces of chair brand known as Airport Chairs..

She added that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants pleaded not guilty.

The court granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N1 million respectively with two sureties each in like sum.

The matter was adjourned until October 17.
