The Federal High Court in Lagos has Jailed nine Chinese nationals for terrorism and unlawful Ponzi scheme
Justice Daniel Osiagor sentenced the offenders at the court on Monday disclosing that the Economic and Finacial Crimes Commission, EFCC, was able to prove that they indulged in the act.
The EFCC stated that the convicts: Qin Yong, Luo Yang, Liu Ni, Liu Gang, Sun Qi, Zhang Juan, Li Wen, Fun Min, and Tan Ming operated the Ponzi scheme which was linked to terrorism financing and were arrested in Victoria Island in December 2024.
The EFCC counsel, Abdulrasheed Rildwan, presented a plea bargain agreement reached with the convicts and approved by the commission which was upheld by the judge who thereafter sentenced the transgressors to one year in prison each with an option of N1 million fine.
Justice Osiagor also ordered the forfeiture of all electronic devices recovered from the convicts and further directed the Nigerian Immigration Service to deport the convicts to China within seven days of completing their jail terms.
