Court Grants Bail To Arrested Lagos Assembly Workers

A proceeding at the Federal High Court in Lagos has granted bail to three workers at the Lagos State House of Assembly who have been accused of assault against officers of the Department of State Security Service, DSS.
During the sitting, Justice Daniel Osiagor, granted the bail in the sum of N3,000,000, ordering the defendants to provide one surety each.
Osiagor proceeded to rule that the sureties must be employees of either the Lagos State or Federal Government, holding a minimum grade level of 12. Additionally, the court mandated that all documents submitted must be verified by the court registrar.
The matter will be revisited on June 24, as adjourned by the Judge.
The bail was granted sequel to an application by Frank Eke, counsel to the defendants.
The DSS in a suit charge marked FHC/L/273C/2025 claimed they the trio identified as Ibrahim Olanrewaju, Adetu Adekunle, and Fatimoh Adetola conspired to assault officers of the security agency while performing their official duties at the Assembly Complex in Alausa, Ikeja, without any reasonable excuse.
The offences, according to the DSS, contravened Section 516 of the Criminal Code Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, as well as Sections 27(1)(b), 24(1)(b), 24(c)(i), and 11 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 (as amended), 2024.
