Two suspects have been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for an alleged rape on a 15-year-old girl.

The accused duo: Michael Abiola, an auto mechanic of age 20 and Afolabi Tobi, 21, an electrician, were arraigned before the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

The defendants, residents at Ilogbo, Ojo, Lagos, were accused of raping the victim who was on her way to the mosque.

When arraigned before Magistate Bola Osunsanmi on charges bordering on conspiracy and rape, the prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, said the duo commited the act on May 29, at Ilogbo Isashi Bridge, Ajangbadi, Lagos.

Akeem said that the girl, who made the complain at the police station was on her way to the mosque for a night prayer when the defendants blocked her.

The prosecutor uttered that the suspects dragged her from the road to a secluded place and gang-raped her.

He disclosed that the offence contravened Sections 137 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate Osunsanmi refused to listen to the defendants’ plea. She ordered them to be remanded until July 18 for Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) advice.
