Council Chairman Facilitates Solar Technology Training In Victoria Island

The Chairman of Iru/Victoria Island LCDA, Rasheedat Adu, has organized a solar technology empowerment training for youths in the community.

During the trainee’s graduation event held at the council secretariat recently, Adu said that the initiative was organized to create an avenue for the youths to learn various entrepreneurship skills which will help them propel to a better future.

The council boss also unveiled a solar kiosk to enhance the community’s access towards renewable energy.

To the beneficiaries who were put through on intensive solar technology system design, and installation during the one month free exercise, the Chairman said: “The importance of you youths in the society can not be undermined, hence the need to always empower you in various skills. .

“This is another great opportunity, utilize it very well, as it’s not everyone that gets white-collar jobs but the skills you acquire will be useful for you forever.

“I urge you all to be productive, focused and ensure you get the best out of it.

“The Solar Kiosk, built by the trainees will ultimately serve as a Power Plant for the benefits of our community.”

Olajide Habbeb, Lead Facilitator of Emerald Renewable Africa, disclosed that the Students who distinguished themselves during the training will be given free one year internship with remuneration and also presented with solar business certificates and other related benefits.

Habbeb appreciated the Chairman and added that the program will certainly expose the trainees to greater opportunities in the labour markets either in government establishments or private sectors.

One of the beneficiaries, Sadiq Ayomide, lauded the council boss for the initiative.

According to him, Adu has provided unflinching support to the youths through empowerment and developments in the area.

Ayomide urged his fellow trainees to be committed to excellence in their field of work.
