The Lagos State Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu has recommended the criminal prosecution of auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe over the death of popular Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
In delivering the court’s findings on Friday, Magistrate C.A. Shotobi stated that Ogedengbe displayed gross negligence by administering an injection to the late singer without a valid prescription from a licensed medical doctor.
Although the court ruled out foul play or homicide, it determined that the nurse’s conduct was unlawful and professionally irresponsible.
“In line with Section 29 of the Coroner Laws of Lagos State, this court recommends that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, initiate appropriate legal action against Feyisayo Ogedengbe for unauthorized medical practice and gross negligence,” Magistrate Shotobi stated.
Ogedengbe was first taken into custody in connection with Mohbad’s death, which happened under controversial circumstances on September 11, 2023. The incident triggered national outrage and widespread calls for a comprehensive investigation.
While testifying before the court in March 2025, Ogedengbe admitted to giving the late singer a tetanus injection, after which he reportedly began vomiting and showed signs of a negative reaction.
