Afariogun Joint Community Development Association (CDA) has kicked against the plan to convert some buildings in the community to brothels, motel and restaurants.

The executive members of the association called the attention of Commissioner for Environment and Physical Planning to checkmate the move by some yet-to-be-identified business men, claiming that establishing such businesses in the environment is dangerous as it may have negative influence on their children.

Already, a storey building at No 4, Aduke Thomas, Orile Oshodi is presently undergoing reconstruction allegedly to be used as a brothel while some other buildings have been identified at Afariogun, Akinlawanson, Agbalaya, Rufia, and Boladale lined up to be reconstructed allegedly for the same business purpose.

In its letter written to the Commissioner for Environment and Physical Planning though the Community Development Committee (CDC), the CDA asked the commissioner to stop the business plans in the community, stating that the proximity of the ongoing proposed brothel to the primary schools would have negative influence on the adolescents (boys and girls) of the community.

The association urged the commissioner to conduct investigations on the structures marked for the businesses on the aforementioned streets and take proactive measures against the perceived development in the community.

It also wrote another letter to the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo, to inform her of the danger in building brothel in front of schools.

The letter which was jointly signed by the chairman of Isokan Community Development Association (CDA), Mr. kazeem Fawole; the chairman of Aduke Thomas, Mr. Yusuf Ismail and the General Secretary, John Nwaoji and made available to ECHONEWS read in part: “It has come to our notice that a former house occupied by a hospital has been sold and converted to a brothel.

“If such a structure is erected in front of our school, the lives of the children are in danger.

“We therefore implore you to conduct an investigation into this matter as to stop the menace before it gets out of hand.”
