The Community Development Committee (CDC) and Community Development Associations (CDAs) in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area (LGA) have promised to give the Community Based Targeting Team (CBTT) total support to achieve success in its social data gathering exercise.
CBTT is a newly inaugurated team of six staff members of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government asked to gather data on poor and vulnerable persons in the community to enable the government plan for their welfare.
The community leaders, including the Special Adviser (SA) on Community Affairs, Mr. Ade Macathy, Isokan CDA Chairman, Mr. Kazeem Fawole, CDC second Vice Chairman, Abdullah Melemuku and Boladale CDA Chairperson, Mrs. Tunbi promised to give the team necessary support to perform.
The head of the Lagos State Operating Coordinating Unit (LASOCU), Mr. Olarenwaju Yusuf, hinted that two staff personnel from Lagos State will join the team in Oshodi for the data gathering process.
Yusuf stated that there would be no limit to the number of poor and vulnerable persons to be registered in the yearly exercise so far they are all less privileged.
He emphasised that the community should not expect immediate benefit from the exercise, stating that it will surely come after the exercise as the registration would be used to receive aids ifrom nternational bodies such as the United Nations (UN).
He said the programme is for the less privileged in the community, saying only the people who cannot afford two square meals a day, homeless ones, people who cannot afford necessity of life and those regarded as the poorest of poor among the community would be registered.
The community leaders, therefore, urged those in such category to make use of the opportunity to improve their lot by coming out to be registered.
