Hopes of residents of Oshodi for light remained bleak at the weekend no thanks to the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC‘s) failure to live up to its promise.

For more than a week, the community has been living in darkness. At the time of filing this report on Saturday, power has not been restored.

ECHONEWS gathered that the community’s power supply was cut because the transformer serving the community could no longer carry its load. To save the transformer, IKEDC proposed maintenance service  before power supply could be returned.

Following the development, the officials visited the transformer, took note of the condition and promised to boost the transformer so that maximum power supply could resume by the weekend.

Worried, the Community Development Association (CDA) has started deliberating on how to resolve the issue to supply power back into the community.

According to the CDA Chairman, Nurani Lawal, one of their strategies is to collaborate with the company on what they could do to support themselves as a community.
Lawal said the company has not responded to their enquiries adding that IKEDC should be sensitive to their plight.

He also charged the company to issue prepaid meters to the community to solve the problem of huge bills.

Meanwhile, the Head of Corporate Communication, Ikeja Electric,  Felix Ofulue said the matter would be looked into and resolved soon.
