Agrieved by alleged incessant noise pollution by a church named God Hand’s Healing Deliverance & Prophetic Church of God located at Afolabi-Oyewale Street, Ejigbo, the Community Development Association (CDA) has written a petition to the Church informing it to reduce the noise.
Taiwo Fayemi CDA, in the petition signed by the CDA Chairman, Mr. Olajide Makinde and the General Secretary, Mrs. Victoria Olushesan, which was made available to ECHONEWS warned that the church would be dragged to the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, Ejigbo Local Council Development Area and Ejigbo Police Station if it refuses to correct the situation, stating that the government authorities were also copied the petition to be notified.
The CDA lamented that all its effort to see the Church authority were turned down by the Church officials hence, the choice of letter before reporting the case to the appropriate government authorities.
“While looking forward to necessary corrective measure, please note that the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency and the Ejigbo Local Council Development Area are being copied for their information.
However, one of the senior pastors of the church, Pastor Celestine Obi, in response to the letter said the alleged sound pollution is not true, claiming that the church uses only two speakers in the church which only allow the church member to hear what is being said from the altar.
He explained that the church always has programmes aside from Sunday and Thursday when they usually have to use the speakers.
Reacting to the alleged refusal to honour the CDA and attend its meetings by the church, Obi said the person saddled with the responsibility to attend the meeting was not around to attend.
