The Christians Ministries Welfare Initiative (CMWI) and other christian leaders of affiliates groups endorsed the presidential flag bearer of the All Progressives Candidate (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the next president of Nigeria.
The CMWI led by it global president and unification superintendent, Apostle Aderemi Daniel Adebiyi in his speech at the formal declaration and endorsement of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for president of Nigeria said they are taking a decision of faith and conviction that will define them as true leaders of different denominations in the christian community.
“We are taking a decision of faith and conviction that will define us as true leaders of different denominations in christian community.
“It’s obvious that the recent Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC presidential candidate have generated a lot of backlashes and debates within the Christians families, with all sincerity of purpose, the ticket is perceived as unfavorable to the Christian community.
“Many Christians, who have gotten used to the conventional pairing of the presidential ticket between Christians and Muslims been fundamental to federal character and interreligious peace, now perceived this as departure from the norm, hence see it as a setback.
“Nevertheless, as a group who believes in moving the country forward through competence, experience, intellectual skills and well informed with understanding of party politics as it operates and as a loyal foot soldiers of over three decades that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu represent, particularly his robust, thoughtfulness and cordial relationship with this group and it’s affiliates.”
Apostle Aderemi Daniel Adebiyi added that they arrived at the endorsement of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu after due consultations with the christian groups and affiliates of CMWI.
“After due consultations with all our christian leaders, group affiliates like, the Bishop league, Youth pastors forum, Christians workers fellowship of Nigeria, Women of Faith Society of Nigeria, Ambassadors of Christ Fellowship, Soldiers of Christ Chaplaincy of Nigeria, Independent Christian Fellowship of Nigeria, Association of Rural Missionary and CMWI as a unified body couple with recent comments from our respected leaders in the christian community.
“Our respectable christian leader, Cardinal John Onaiyekan opined on the choice ticket of the APC as he noted, it’s a political decision taken by the party on the calculation that it’s their best way to win the election or assure their victory in 2023 general election, while our undisputable PFN president also advised us to vote for our conscience and whoever we feel has the capacity to solve the problem of Nigeria irrespective of tribe or religion.
“This has been an eye opener to us as a group while we took a critical decision to formally adopt and make declaration towards 2023 presidential election in support of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate.
“This is a commitment we agreed to as a group with all intents and purposes as we are poised to continue to support this with prayers for peaceful conduct of the forthcoming general elections.”
