As worship resumed across the state, the Ejigbo LCDA Chief Imam, Alhaji Mukaila Sanni, has admonished the Muslim faithful to fear God more than how they fear coronavirus, saying God is the most powerful who can remove the virus from the world..
The Chief Imam gave this message to the worshippers on Friday during the Jumat service held at Ejigbo Central mosque as Muslims observed second Jumat service after the reopening of worship centres.
Although the Jumat service was well attended, there was strict compliance with the government directives on hand washing, use of nose cover and social distancing.
Speaking to ECHONEWS after the Jumat service, the Chief Imam said every worshiper complied with the measures because they knew the value of worshiping which they had been denied for some months.
He noted that the mosque management mandated all worshipers to comply with rules and regulations of the government as long as it does not prevent them from worshiping their Creator.
He added that the mosque was thoroughly cleaned and fumigated before commending Jumat service.
Meanwhile, he emphasised that the core message of his sermon is to draw people to God, seek His power over the virus as the only way to fight Covid-19.
His words: “If we all could fear coronavirus because of death the way we did for the past five to seven months then, we should fear Allah who is more powerful and strict and severe in punishment to those who disobey Him than coronavirus.
“We should fear and obey the commandments of the God who created coronavirus and has the control over the virus and death.”
