Chief Anikpe crowned FESTAC Weekly Man of the Year 2022

A prominent chief in Amuwo-Odofin LGA, High Chief Kingsley Ifeanyin Anikpe (Akajiugo Ogidi) has been crowned FESTAC Weekly Man of the Year 2022.

Chief Anikpe emerged the winner of the community newspaper magazine (FESTAC  Weekly) award after being massively adjudged the winner by the people.

The recipient of the much anticipated Festac Weekly Man of the Year award recognition was finally announced on January 5, 2022.

According to the organiser of the Award, who is also the Publisher of Festac Weekly, Abayomi Adejumo, Chief Anikpe bagged the award based on the people choice as his contribution to the community development was rated highest.

Adejumo said other persons who have played an impactful role in mentoring and empowering as well as human development, security of lives and property and social infrastructural development across the local government were also awarded.

“The process of arriving at the decision to honour Chief Anikpe with this exalted community recognition was democratic as residents were requested to register nominations through designated channels, after which nominated prospects numbering over 40 persons were screened to four people.

“In one of the several nominations remark by a resident, Chief Anikpe was described as ‘public spirited, not a politician but affects so many people’s lives and has been doing so for over 25 years in Amuwo-Odofin and FESTAC town especially.’ He is one of the leading lights of the residents association in 6th Avenue, empowering people, religious organisations and youth.”

“The track record of High Chief Anikpe is very quintessential. He’s very selfless,” Adejumo said.

He noted that other finalists were also duly recognized.

“Hon. Folorunso Ola Western who is the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC vying to represent Amuwo-Odofin constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly was honoured and recognised with the FESTAC Weekly Street Credibility/Leadership Award, while Comrade Rasheed Olateju was accorded the Mass Mobilizer Award of recognition.

“Official presentation of award certificates and plaques will be carried out under a strictly by invitation ceremony as proposed by the publishers of Festac Weekly.”

Meanwhile, Adejumo appreciated the communities that make up the local government for getting involved in identifying, rewarding and celebrating people who selflessly contribute to the development of the local government.
