Chidi Harmony Shines As Imo Strikers Emerge Champions Of Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup

Second-tier Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship side, Imo recorded an outstanding 6-1 win over Giant Empress of Aba to emerge as winners of the 2023 Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup.

The star of the tournament, Chidi Harmony scored four goals to lift the Owerri-based side to a big win at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta state capital.

She scored her third hat-trick of the tournament in the first 45 minutes of the game.

Ohuche Agnes reduced the deficit for Giant Empress in the 48th minute.

Chiamaka Damian and Oscar Precious converted a goal each to increase the lead to five before Harmony scored her fourth goal of the encounter to increase the lead to 6-1.

The winners took the silver medal last year and returned this year by winning the title.

Imo Striker Queens won two out of four individual awards.

Harmony scored 14 goals in six games to win the highest goal scorer award.

Her teammate, Oscar Precious emerged as the most valuable player.

Giant Empress goalie, Orji Ijeoma smiled home with the goalkeeper of the tournament while Bravehearts won the Fair Play award.
