Chief Monday Akunna, a chairmanship aspirant of Greenfield Estate, has promised to heighten the level of communal growth and development in the estate if given the mandate to lead its next set of elected executive members.

Akunna, who currently serves as the construction chairman for the estate, is contesting for the chairmanship of the estate association.

He claimed that his performance in his former position earned him recommendations for the chairmanship position, stressing that he has received massive supports from the residents.

The community will elect a new set of executive members to govern the community for the next two year this weekend.

Explaining his agenda, the aspirant said he would consolidate on the existing development in the estate while working on construction of police post, farmers’ market, befitting secretariat for the association, recreation centre, security, electricity as well as beautification of the estate, adding that he would also concentrate on road rehabilitation within the estate.

His words: “My people know what I can do, they know my capability, they’ve seen my performance and I’m delighted about the massive supports I have received so far. In order to achieve all that I have listed, I will make sure I work with the community and maintain the development template.

“I will also collaborate with the government for support to achieve all what we need in the community in terms of infrastructure. I will work with the council chairman and our councillor to attract the local and state governments’ attention to the estate because to date, drainage construction done by the state government is the only physical government project we have in our estate, all others are personal and communal efforts.

“The possibilities of what we will achieve are endless if I emerge the next chairman of the estate and that is why I’m appealing for the support of the residents during the election and after.”
