Canadian Returnee Arrested For Assault On Government Official

A Canada returnee, Morufudeen Idowu, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting an official of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC, at Ojota area in Lagos.
Idowu was said to have physically attacked the victim who was enforcing the law on him after an attempt to cross the expressway, an act prohibited by the state government.
Reacting to the incident, the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the arrestee, who violated the stipulations as enshrined in the environmental laws by neglecting the use of the pedestrian bridge is in custody of the LAGESC agency in Oshodi and would face prosecution for the unlawful act.
Wahab disclosed that pedestrian bridges are provided to reduce accidents in the metropolis and anyone caught crossing the highway will face necessary sanctions.
“Mr. Morufudeen Idowu, 52 years old and a Canada returnee, refused arrest and assaulted one of our personnel while crossing the expressway at Ojota,” Wahab said.
“He has been taken into custody at the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps office in Oshodi and will be prosecuted in accordance with the relevant laws of the state. “
