Burna Boy Declares Fela Kuti as the Only African Artist Greater Than Him

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has declared that Fela Kuti, the late Afrobeat pioneer, is the only African artist greater than him.
Burna Boy made the claim during a recent livestream with Australian content creator Playboymax, where he hailed Fela as the “king” of African music.
“He [Fela Kuti] is the king. He is the only one [African artist] who is greater than me. He is the only one,” Burna Boy said.
The ‘Last Last’ crooner’s bold remark has sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans praising his confidence while others criticised the statement as self-aggrandising.
While Burna Boy remains one of Africa’s most successful contemporary artists, the debate over who holds the title of the greatest African musician in history continues among music lovers and critics alike.
