The Acting General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr Bakare Oki Olalekan has issued a stern warning to all motorists especially truck drivers, driving within the state to ensure that their vehicles and the braking system are in perfect condition before embarking on a journey.
The Acting General Manager issued this warning following the truck accident that occurred at Anthony “Oke” inward Gbagada Lagos, as at early hours of this morning, leaving the driver unconscious and his motor boy dead.
A statement by the Director of Public Enlightenment Department of LASTMA , Mr Adebayo Taofiq confirmed that the lone accident happened at Barracks Bus Stop opposite Total Filling station ascending Anthony “Oke” Bridge inward Gbagada.
Investigation further revealed that the driver of the containerised truck with registration Number T 20345 LA lost control due to brakes failure.
It said that the vehicle fell just a few metres away to Anthony “Oke” Bridge inward Gbagada area of Lagos.
It will be recalled that recently, there have been records of accident on that Anthony Gbagada axis that has led to loss of life, which could largely be attributed to brakes failure and poor condition of the vehicles as well.
