Sporting Lagos FC gaffer, Abdulahi Biffo, has raised concerns over his sides chances of escaping the relegation drop from the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, following their 4-1 belabouring in the hands of Rivers United in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

The Lagos base club fell to a sumptuous hat trick from Andy Okpe and another strike by Samuel Antwi. Michael Tochukwu got what remained a consolation goal in the game making it their 14th league loss recorded this season.

Biffo, who took over at the club in April said that the loss following a four-week-break in the league has further dampened their hopes of playing in the NPFL next season.

The gaffer whose side are two points off the drop with just five more matches to go said, “Losing this match is something to worry about. I know that we are going to lose ground and every team below us are fighting seriously. I saw Akwa went to Lobi and won, that’s a threat to our result here.

“Nevertheless, it’s not over. We still have five more matches to play. We have to put our heads together and be positive. We have to keep fighting until the last day. We will keep pushing until we get it right.”

The loss against Rivers United, their second defeat in three games is a curtain raiser into the last five games in the league.

They host title hunting Enugu Rangers on Sunday, to be followed by a mouth watering game against fellow relegation-threatened Bayelsa United.

A home game against Plateau United will follow before hosting reigning champions Enyimba. They end the season’s fixtures with a southwest derby game against Shooting Stars in Ibadan.
