As the residents enter into the second week of the Federal Government’s stay-at-home order, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Aswani Division, Oyin Francess has assured residents of safety.
In a chat with our correspondent, Francess stated that her division and other divisions under the Lagos State Command have keyed into the directives of the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, to maintain law and order and sustain residents’ compliance to the stay-at-home order.
According to her, “Measures have been put in place by the Commissioner of Police which we, his subordinates, have since keyed into. Before the enforcement of the order, he had gone back to the drawing board and put some things in place. Even here in my division, we have put in some measures to sustain crime-free community during this period.
She said the division has introduced preventive measures such as provision of soap, water and alcohol-based sanitiser at the entrance and some places within the station.
The DPO, who said the police had to close a few churches to ensure compliance with the stay at home and social distancing policies, urged residents to obey the law to check the transmission of the virus.
Her words: “We will strictly ensure that they do not also flout the directive as regards social gathering and other precautionary measures as given by the government. The residents need to abide by this directive. No party, no club, no joint, no church; we shall continue to ensure compliance.”
