Assault Allegation: DJs Remove Burna Boy Songs from Playlists
The Nigerian DJ Association has announced a temporary ban on all songs by Burna Boy across its members’ playlists following an alleged assault involving DJ Tunez.
The decision was made public on Wednesday in response to an incident said to have occurred at Obi’s House, a weekly Afrobeats event in Lagos.
Reports indicate that DJ Tunez was allegedly attacked by Burna Boy and members of his team during the event. A viral video circulating online showed the DJ being physically assaulted, reportedly after playing songs by Wizkid instead of Burna Boy’s music.
The development has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many calling for accountability.
In a statement shared on Instagram, the association condemned the incident and announced that Burna Boy’s music would be removed from DJs’ playlists pending the outcome of an investigation.
“Burna Boy music is temporarily out of any of our DJs playlist till further notice. Our team will carry out a proper investigation on the incident that happened to one of our own,” the statement read.
The association also urged DJs nationwide to remain professional and respectful to all artists during events.
