This initiative is a key part of the Chairman’s broader environmental sanitation program. Its primary goal is to ensure the free flow of water, thereby preventing flooding and improving the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the Mushin communities.

While supervising the ongoing work, Aruwe said his administration commitment to a clean, healthy, and flood-free environment. He stressed that proper waste management and clearing of drainage systems are vital for sustainable urban development.

“We aim to make Mushin a model of environmental discipline and community safety,” Aruwe stated.

“Regular desiltation of our drains will significantly help to mitigate flooding and protect residents’ property, especially during the rainy season.”

The community has widely welcomed the effort. Residents and stakeholders praised the initiative as both timely and impactful, noting its importance in preventing water stagnation and related environmental health hazards.

Sanitarian Taiwo Awonuga, Head of the Department of Environmental Services, commended the Chairman for his consistent prioritization of environmental sanitation.

He pointed out that the council’s proactive measures have already led to a noticeable reduction in flooding and an improvement in public hygiene across Mushin.

Leaders from the Adeoyo and Igbo Owu communities also expressed their gratitude for the Chairman’s responsive and people-centered leadership, pledging their continued cooperation in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

Aruwe concluded by reaffirming his resolve to continue with periodic drainage clearance, community sensitization, and environmental monitoring, ensuring that Mushin remains a clean, safe, and habitable place for all residents.
