The Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Bolaji Muse-Ariyoh has cautioned the officials of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) operating inside the local government secretariat on the bribery allegation leveled against them by the residents.
A few residents who visited the commission for their national identification cards registrations have alleged the officials of financial inducement before being registered.
In an attempt to unravel the truth about the allegation, the council chairman visited the commission and demanded explanation from the cluster Head of Oshodi-Isolo National Identity Management commission (NIMC), Mary Oko-Oza.
Responding, the cluster Head debunked the allegation, explaining that the commission (NIMC) never collected money from any individual or group of people before discharging their duties.
She challenged anyone with any evidence to forward it to her office although she explained that her office lately encountered activities of some intruders who she caught racketeering the commission’s forms pretending to be staff members which made her change the operational mode of the commission with stern warning to deal ruthlessly with whomever as caught in the unlawful act.
She, however, submitted names of some individuals which her investigations revealed to be meddling in the activities of the commission to bring them to book.
She also explained that the commission is faced with challenges of limitation in number of people that can be captured on a daily basis.
According to her, the system in the commission can only register 80 persons daily which prompted people to be at the office as early as possible, the process and this challenge she said was made public for everyone.
The Chairman advised the commission to brace up on the loopholes and challenges the cluster manager explained while he promised to investigate the names of the intruders submitted by the commission for necessary action with a promise to support the commission for effective service to Oshodi-Isolo community.
