The All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Chairman in Isolo LCDA, Barr. Gani Bello, has disclosed the decision of the party to return all the incumbent executive members except those who had either died, resigned or involved in anti-party activities in one way or the other.
The party’s congress is scheduled to hold in all wards across the country on Saturday, July 31.
The national leadership of the party has made a declaration that consensus arrangement will be used for the coming congress.
Bello said the congress in the council area will be held in accordance with the directive of the state leadership, saying all party leaders and elders will be involved and carried along.
He hinted that the party hopes to return all the incumbent executive members except those who had resigned, died or has serious issues against them.
He added that the congress will be peaceful and violence-free just as the just concluded council polls.
He used the medium to reaffirm his confidence in the new council chairman, Hon. Adebayo Olasoju, urging residents to sustain their belief in him and support the new dispensation.
He also responded to the remark of the member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ganiyu Johnson who had, during the party’s grand campaign ceremony for the just concluded LG elections, urged Olasoju to ensure fair distribution of positions across the wards and among political groups in the party when forming his cabinet.
Bello explained that Johnson had only echoed the minds and expectations of fellow party members, stressing that every ward will be represented in Olasoju’s cabinet.
His words: “The coming congress will be by consensus, leaders are meeting to ensure that only those who are dead or who have resigned or who have engaged in anti-party activities will be removed, every other executive member will be returned except there’s a strong reason to remove them. They will be returned. It is a consensus arrangement and not a rancorous or noisy congress.”
He added: “I’m assuring them (residents) that I have confidence in Olasoju’s capability to perform creditably well. What we experience during the inauguration was a confirmation of acceptance.”
