APC Tells ADC Lagos Is Not Up for Grabs

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday dismissed claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that it could take over governance in the state, describing the assertion as unrealistic and politically unfeasible.
Mogaji Seye Oladejo, the APC state spokesman, warned that Lagos is not for “political apprentices” and is not up for grabs. He characterised the ADC’s claim as a “political fantasy,” noting that a party unable to conduct effective ward meetings cannot suddenly expect to govern a state widely recognised for its sustained governance and innovation.
In a statement, Oladejo said, “Let it be stated clearly: Lagos is not a laboratory for political apprentices. Lagos is not up for grabs. And Lagos is certainly not a charity project for emergency parties seeking relevance through laughable headlines. The ADC’s posturing is nothing but a comical attempt to inflate a political balloon with the hot air of wishful thinking.”
He added that the ADC should focus on strengthening its grassroots structures before aspiring to contest major elections in Lagos. “In 2023, and even before then, the ADC struggled to fill a bus stop with its entire membership. The same party is now promising to overrun a state with over 20 million people, world-class infrastructure, and the most sophisticated electorate in Nigeria. There should be limits to political comedy,” Oladejo said.
He concluded by challenging the ADC to first conduct successful internal meetings and establish credible local structures before setting sights on contesting councillorships or higher offices in the state.
