Anderline Mgbechi Heroic Save Secures Rivers Angels Historic Federation Cup 10th Title

Rivers Angels came from two goals down to defeat Nasarawa Amazons 4-2 (2-2) through penalty shootout to emerge the champions of the 2025 President Federation Cup at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.

Rukayat Shobowale grabbed a first half brace for the Lafia Landladies, while Taiwo Ajibade, Taiwo Afolabi were on target for the Jewels of Rivers.

Midfield maestro, Shobowale gave Nasarawa Amazons the lead in the seventh minute with a terrific strike in the 18 yard box.

Shobowale completed her brace of the game in the 18th minute with a smashing shot.

Rivers Angels became dominant in the second half and Ajibade got on the end of a set piece in the far corner of the goal to pull a goal back.

Midfield anchor, Afolabi equalled the score line for Rivers Angels with a superlative strike from the edge of the box.

Mgbechi led Rivers Angels to victory with crucial penalty save as she scored the winning penalty to clinch the Jewel of Rivers 10th President Federation Cup title.
