Alao wins Quran contest at maiden Lagos community sallah bash in Oshodi

Twelve year old Basit Alao beat others to emerge best student to recite Quranic verses at the maiden Eid-El-Kabir bash and prayers organised by the Lagos state and local governments.
The contest highlighted the significance of the event celebrated worldwide by muslims in memory of Ibrahim who showed faith by obeying God’s command to sacrifice his son.
Lagos State Governor Akinwumi Ambode, represented by the Special Adviser, Community & Communications, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan urged citizens to support the administration’s efforts to provide infrastructures to all areas.
“we will ensure that the dividend of good governance is evenly and fairly distributed in line with our pledge not to leave any part of the state behind.” he said.
He also thanked Lagosians for demonstrating confidence in his administration by voting the All Progressives Congress in the just-concluded local government elections.
The chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area, Mr. Bolaji Muse-Ariyoh and his counterparts in Isolo LCDA, Mr.Shamsudeen Olaleye and Ejigbo, Mr. Monsuru Bello attended the event with the councillors, heads of administration and departments.
Each council was also represented by members of the Community Development Committee led by their chairmen.
The ruling All Progressives Congress was represented by chairmen and members.
Basit Alao beat Muhammad Saidi to second place and Muhammad Abdulsalam to third position.
