The outgoing councillor representing Akinbaye ward, Hon. Idris Agbabiaka aka Katami, has claimed that his ward got more infrastructures during his term than any other wards in the local council area.
According to him, out of the seven wards in the council area, Akinbaiye ward benefited massively from the developmental projects of the outgoing council chairman, Hon. Shamsudeen Olaleye especially in the area of infrastructural development.
He claimed to have worked tirelessly to facilitate major infrastructures into the community during his second term as a councillor.
Agbabiaka, who is the only second-term councillor among others, explained that the cordial relationship he established with the council chairman has been instrumental to the developments recorded in his ward.
He added that the knowledge and insight he patiently gathered from his previous colleagues have been helpful in his second tenure.
He said he was able to achieve much because he always put the interests of his people first in all political activities.
Agbabiaka, who is the majority leader, listed the primary healthcare centre done by the state government, the construction of Moshalashi Street and provision of 500 KVA to Akinbaiye Ward by the council chairman to end the 18-month darkness the community experienced as three of his most cherished ‘legacy projects’ he facilitated.
He further listed other achievements to include rehabilitation of Goloba Street, the ongoing construction work on Aremu and Karimu Streets, borehole in Akinbode Street among others, boasting that he was instrumental to the realisation of the projects.
The elated councillor commended the council chairman whom he described as ‘development juggernaut’ as well as the state governor for their supports.
Agbabiaka, however, advised the set of incoming councillors to work hand-in-hand with their chairman, ensure that there is no interference from external factors into legislative activities and that the chairman should have listening ears to his councillors, noting that the people are closer to their councillors than they are to the chairman.
Meanwhile, the new councillorship candidate in the ward under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Babatunde Amusa, has promised to consolidate on the achievements.
He said he aspired for the position to complement the developmental activities of his predecessors in the ward.
Amusa, who hails from the Olushi Onigbesa Royal Family, explained that he has consulted his people to know their the needs and will work closely with the council chairman to get them.
He promised to work extraordinarily to facilitate needed infrastructure to the community as he appealed to the electorate for their votes to realised his aspiration
