Agege Local Government Tops 2025 Lagos State Primary Schools Debate

In a momentous win that has sparked pride and celebration across the community, the Agege Local Government Education Authority (Agege LGEA) has emerged overall best at the highly competitive 2025 Lagos State Public Primary Schools Debate Competition.

Organized by LG News Academy, in partnership with the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Embassy of Ireland, this year’s edition witnessed participation from 1,028 public primary schools across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the state.

Standing tall above the rest, Team Agege delivered a spectacular performance characterized by eloquence, critical thinking, and intellectual depth. Representing Agege LGEA were three outstanding young debaters:

Raheem Deborah– Anwarul Islam Primary School, Ogba, Agege, Abigeal Sobanjo* – Ibukunolu Primary School, Orile Agege, Dania Omotola Grace – Ibukunolu Primary School, Orile Agege

For their excellence, Team Agege was awarded a grand prize of ₦3,000,000 (Three Million Naira) a reward that reflects not only their performance but also the promise of a bright future ahead.

Reacting to the win, Mrs. C. M. Catherine Ogunyomi the Education Secretary of Agege LGEA, expressed immense pride in the team, she said,
“This achievement is a reflection of our commitment to academic excellence and holistic development.”

Also reaching is the current serving executive Vice Chairman of Orile-Agege Lcda, Mrs Pedro Kafilat Toyin , she said “Our pupils have proven that Agege is home to some of the brightest minds in Lagos, We will not relent; we will continue to invest in and nurture the future leaders of tomorrow.”

Congratulations to the young champions, their schools, dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and the entire Agege LGEA team for this outstanding and inspiring accomplishment.
