Agbaje Hails Installation of Chief Olabinjo Jamiu as Okanlomo of Ikorodu Kingdom

Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, has congratulated Chief Olabinjo Olarenwaju Jamiu on his installation as the Okanlomo of Ikorodu Kingdom, describing the honour as well-deserved and symbolic of years of dedicated service to the community.

The installation ceremony, which held on Friday, December 27, 2025, at the Palace of the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, was a colourful display of culture and tradition. The event drew an array of traditional chiefs, community leaders, family members, and well-wishers from across Ikorodu Division and beyond.

In a congratulatory message, Dr. Agbaje praised Chief Olabinjo Olarenwaju Jamiu for his long-standing commitment to the peace, growth, and development of Ikorodu Kingdom, noting that his elevation to the revered title reflects years of loyalty, selfless service, and support for the traditional institution.

According to the governor’s aide, the title of Okanlomo is one of great responsibility, particularly in assisting the Ayangburen-in-Council in fostering unity, preserving cultural heritage, and driving grassroots development across the kingdom.

“Chief Olabinjo Olarenwaju Jamiu’s installation is a recognition of his dedication to community service and his unwavering support for the traditional values of Ikorodu Kingdom. I am confident that he will bring wisdom, integrity, and developmental insight to this revered position,” Dr. Agbaje said.

He further prayed for wisdom, strength, and divine guidance for the newly installed chief as he assumes his responsibilities, urging him to continue to serve as a vital bridge between the traditional institution, government, and the people.

The installation, conducted in strict adherence to Ikorodu customs and traditions, was widely described by attendees as another significant milestone in the preservation of the kingdom’s rich cultural heritage under the reign of HRM Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi. The ceremony reinforced the enduring relevance of traditional institutions in promoting unity and development within the Ikorodu community.
