Agbaje Congratulates Newly Inaugurated Lasu Governing Council

The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, has congratulated the newly inaugurated Chairman and members of the Lagos State University (LASU) Governing Council following their official inauguration by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday.
Dr. Agbaje, who witnessed the ceremony, described the development as a reaffirmation of the Lagos State Government’s commitment to academic excellence, strengthened institutional governance, and the long-term advancement of LASU.
During the inauguration, Governor Sanwo-Olu underscored the strategic importance of LASU in shaping the future of young people while reinforcing Lagos State’s academic reputation.
He noted that the university remains a critical pillar in the state’s vision to produce globally competitive graduates capable of driving innovation across various sectors.
The Governor welcomed the newly appointed Council members and expressed strong confidence in their capacity to steer the institution with integrity, transparency, and renewed purpose.
According to him, LASU’s progress hinges on capable leadership dedicated to excellence and institutional growth.
“LASU plays a central role in shaping the future of young people and strengthening our state’s academic standing. I am confident that this new Council will guide the university with integrity, focus, and a strong commitment to excellence,” Governor Sanwo-Olu stated.
Reacting to the Governor’s address, Dr. Agbaje congratulated the Governing Council and commended the Governor’s foresight in appointing seasoned professionals to oversee the university’s affairs. He expressed optimism that the Council’s leadership would sustain LASU’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s top tertiary institutions.
He added that he looks forward to the remarkable progress ahead, noting that the Council is well positioned to further elevate LASU as a globally competitive academic powerhouse.
The newly inaugurated Governing Council is expected to immediately commence the implementation of strategic measures aimed at strengthening academic standards, improving institutional governance, and promoting innovative initiatives aligned with the Lagos State Government’s broader vision for the education sector.
