The Chairman of Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA, Mr. David Famuyiwa, underscored the importance of citizen engagement in the budget process, highlighting the significant role it plays in shaping government programs and policies. To further his all-inclusive agenda and bring governance closer to the community, the Chairman hosted a Stakeholders Consultative Forum at the Council Secretariat. The forum aimed to gather valuable input from dignitaries and stakeholders regarding the Y2025 Budget and discuss pertinent issues impacting the community.
The annual Budget Consultative Forum serves as an essential platform for fostering dialogue between the community and local leadership. During the event, participants received updates on completed and ongoing projects funded by the previous budget, while also having the opportunity to present their developmental requests and raise concerns pertaining to their respective communities.
Mr. Gbemileke Adeyeni, the Supervisor for Budget, Planning, Research, and Statistics, warmly greeted the attendees and called for their continued commitment to the government—both financially and morally—as well as their collaborative efforts to help drive progress in the community.
In his address, Mr. David Famuyiwa expressed gratitude to the attendees for their unwavering support in guiding his administration. He reassured residents that his administration remains dedicated to completing ongoing projects and focusing on fostering economic growth that benefits all citizens. He also noted that 80% of the executed projects were based on community requests raised during the previous year’s Budget Stakeholders’ forum.
Mr. Famuyiwa further acknowledged that these accomplishments would not have been possible without the backing and cooperation of various stakeholders, including members of the Executive Committee, Legislators, the Management Team, dedicated staff, and the residents of Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA. He emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving shared goals and improving the overall quality of life in the community.
Mr. Famuyiwa emphasized that the success of the budget heavily relies on revenue generation. He appealed to the community for continued support of his administration, highlighting the importance of residents fulfilling their financial obligations to the council by paying levies and rates in a timely manner. By doing so, they directly contribute to the administration’s ability to meet the community’s expectations and provide essential social amenities.
The event’s key activity involved stakeholders convening in ward-specific groups to identify and prioritize projects requiring attention in their respective communities and locations.
Present at the forum were representatives from the different sections of the Council Area including Council Executives, Management Team, Members of Staff, Party Leaders, Traditional Rulers, Religious Associations, Artisans, Market Leaders, Youths and People Living With Disabilities amongst others.
