Nigeria winger, Moses Simon has charged his teammates to wake up from their slumber following their disappointing result against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.

The Super Eagles were far from their best and held Equatorial Guinea to a 1-1 draw despite the wastefulness in front of goal from Osimhen.

Simon revealed, the players weren’t happy with the display despite the creation of chances that should have buried the game for Nigeria.

The Nantes FC forward believes the Super Eagles should take their chances in their next game against Ivory Coast.

“Yes actually, we are disappointed, we have a lot chances but we didn’t utilize it, of course we are disappointed,” Simon told ECHONEWS exclusively.

“We just need to think ahead of the next game. We just need to work so hard, any opportunity we get, we use it and get it done.

“When you have this type of opportunity and you didn’t win, not only the host country, the next game, you have to wake up.

‘Yes, I’m optimistic of the Super Eagles reaching the knockout stage.”

The return of Kelechi Iheanacho and Terem Moffi will give the Super Eagles more options in attack as they hope to defeat the host nation, Ivory Coast in the second game on Thursday, January 18.
